This July, the Asian Poker Tour heads back to Vietnam to host their fifth event of the season, the APT Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Championships. The upcoming event promises to be bigger than before with twelve days of nonstop poker festivities taking place at the Pro Poker Club from July 11 to July 22.
As always the festival offers an exciting roster of events however what everyone will be eyeing is the Main Event – VND 6 Billion Guaranteed (US$261,300). Last January saw 664 entries for the 3M guaranteed Main Event making it the largest attendance in the tour’s history. With the guarantee now doubled, expectations are high for another massive turnout.
The Tag Team event is one of the more unusual events seen at the WSOP each year, with players forming partnerships or groups, and sharing playing duties between them throughout the tournament. This year’s event had a $1,000 buy in, and saw 1,032 teams take part, creating a prize pool of $928,800.
Many star players chose to take part, but as play got down to the final table, many of the bigger names had fallen. Interestingly though, there was still a strong Asian contingent vying for the title, with many Asian teams having already cashed up to that point.
